On Tuesday, Senator Lee Schoenbeck, President Pro Tempore of the SD Senate, tweeted in response to the announcement of the petition for a special session,
“Read this. To be clear, I do not support this special session petition. People need to quit throwing these requests around like parade candy.”
Parade candy? Really? Is he that insensitive and tone deaf to the thousands of South Dakotans who are suffering, who are at risk for losing their livelihoods and means of supporting their families? Is he not reading the news about deadlines to get the shots? People need help now! January will be too late for many. Is he that skewed in his priorities, interested only in protecting businesses and unwilling to uphold the Constitution to protect the people he is elected to represent?
And here is the rub…he is the leader of the Senate. He has influence. Our other senators must be willing to take a stand against Senator Schoenbeck’s leadership and listen to their constituents.
ACTION ALERT!! Email EVERY Senator TODAY. Urge them to sign the petition for a Special Session NOW and to further support and pass legislation to protect South Dakotans from being compelled and coerced into being injected when it is not what they want. Are the Senators willing to truly represent the people or will they cave to political interests or pressure? If you are being affected by the mandate directly or know someone who is, tell them your story. Send a picture of yourself and your family. Make it personal.
Email Senator Schoenbeck. Let him know that South Dakotans expect leaders who are professional and listening to the voices of the people.
