Today, Governor Noem personally invited the dozens of Massachusetts State Police Troopers who are resigning over the COVID vaccine mandate to move to South Dakota and “join our law enforcement community here” on her Facebook page and Twitter feed.
Unfortunately, should these courageous LEOs take her up on her offer they could find themselves in the same predicament as the Blue State they fled: choosing between a jab or a job.
President Biden’s Vaccine Mandate applies to our state police force, Rapid City and Sioux Falls, our South Dakota National Guard, and any workforce with more than a certain number of employees. And the Governor has repeatedly said she will not intervene if businesses choose to comply with the President’s order.
She has not yet taken any steps to defend any South Dakotan from Biden’s mandate. And without any statute passed by the legislature on the books here, it’s unclear whether or how she’d even have a basis to do so.
We agree with the Governor that South Dakota values “freedom, personal responsibility and law and order” and also want our state to be a refuge for the Americans who are sacrificing their livelihoods over their freedom of conscience.
MandateFreeSD urges her to call a special session to pass a bill that would protect these Blue State LEOs from having to choose between a jab and a job.
Call Governor Noem. Ask her to call a special session IMMEDIATELY!
