ACTION ALERT! HB 1258 Moving to the Senate
It's up to the people of South Dakota to see it through.
HB 1258, the Personal Conscience Act, passed the House Floor by a narrow margin of 37-30 last Tuesday. Essentially, this bill would remove the Covid-19 vaccine mandates for most South Dakotans. Excellent speeches were given on the floor with several stating that this is a bill about liberty. House Speaker Spencer Gosch summed it up well in closing the debate on the floor.
“Aren’t we talking about individual liberties? …Because individual liberty is what is supposed to prevail.” …And finally in a quote from founding father, John Adams, “Liberty at all hazards must be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker! But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.”
HB 1258 will now move on to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee where it will face a very difficult battle in the SD Senate as the senators have overwhelming supported Governor Noem’s bill of disingenuous language and talking points. The medical and business lobbyists are an army on full attack to kill HB 1258 unlike the Governor’s bill which was tailor made for them.
It is up to the people of SD to overwhelm the Senate with support for HB 1258! The senators need to have inboxes filled with email. They need to have their phones ring off the hook this weekend, and to have lines of people to talk to them about the importance of this bill at the cracker barrel.
ACTION ALERT!
Please email every member of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee separately. Then ask your friends and family to do the same. Spread the word as far as you can. Over the weekend is a great time to try to reach them by phone and there are still a few cracker barrels around the state this weekend.
